How to change fonts in your browser

If you prefer to view these or any other web pages with different font faces or sizes, just follow these simple instructions.

Note: to determine which browser you are using:

  • For Windows, look in the Help menu for a line that says "About Internet Explorer" or "About Netscape Communicator". Select that menu item to find out the browser version.
  • For Macs, look in the Apple menu (upper left corner of the screen) for a line that says "About Internet Explorer" or "About Netscape Communicator". Select that menu item to find out the browser version.

Netscape Navigator
Windows and Mac - version 4.7

To change the font size alone, do the following (this setting will only remain in effect until you close the browser):

  • Select Increase Font Size or Decrease Font Size from the View menu.

To change font size and face permanently:

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Under Appearance, click Fonts.
  3. Select the desired font sizes and font faces from the drop-down menus.

Netscape Navigator
Windows and Mac - version 6.0

To change the font size alone, for Windows computers, do the following (this setting will only remain in effect until you close the browser):

  1. Select Text Size from the View menu.
  2. Select the desired percentage.

To change font size and face permanently (for Windows and Mac versions):

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Under Appearance, click Fonts.
  3. Select the desired font sizes and font faces from the drop-down menus.

Microsoft Internet Explorer
Windows - versions 5.0 and 5.5

To change the font size alone, do the following (this setting will only remain in effect until you close the browser):

  1. Select Text Size from the View menu.
  2. Select the desired size.

To change font size and face permanently:

  1. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  2. On the General tab, click Fonts.
  3. Select the desired font faces from the drop-down menus.

Mac - version 5.0

To change the font size alone, do the following (this setting will only remain in effect until you close the browser):

  1. Select Text Zoom from the View menu.
  2. Select the desired percentage.

To change font size and face permanently:

  1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
  2. Click Languages/Fonts.
  3. Select the desired font size and font faces from the drop-down menus.
