UCSF to report on women's health controversies at two-day course

WHAT:

In recognition of the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health’s tenth anniversary, a two-day course, “Controversies in Women’s Health” will provide a practical update on a comprehensive range of common but controversial issues in women’s health.

Emphasis will be placed on new developments in preventive care for women, (e.g., breast and cervical cancer prevention and screening; cardiovascular disease); issues in reproductive health (e.g., contraception, urinary incontinence, endometriosis); and clinical strategies in the diagnosis and treatment of common gynecologic and medical disorders of women (e.g., osteoporosis, mental health; obesity, HIV/AIDS).

WHO:

Keynote speaker: Nancy Milliken, MD, director of the UCSF National Center of Excellence on Women’s Health will address “Advances in Women’s Health: What a Difference a Decade Makes” on Thursday, December 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Speakers include nationally recognized UCSF faculty who have made major contributions in women’s health over the last decade and who continue to lead the field.

The program was designed for family physicians, internists, gynecologists, nurses, pharmacists and others involved in providing health care for women.

Thursday and Friday, December 7-8, 2006 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
