UCSF researchers share their knowledge with community through Mini Medical School III
Plan now for 2001. Starting February 7, UCSF will launch its third Mini Medical School for members of the community.
Classes will run for eight weeks on concurrent Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 PM. The series concludes on March 28. The sessions are aimed at giving participants information about science and medical issues that touch their daily lives.
Some of UCSF's best teachers will discuss the latest in health sciences research. Subjects to be addressed include emerging infectious diseases, a new method for imaging the body, depression, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, heart disease, getting the most out of a physical exam, and caring for a dying person. Classes meet once a week and include a one-hour presentation followed by an hour-long question and answer session. There will be no homework or exams.
All classes will be held in Cole Hall on the UCSF Parnassus Heights campus. A $50 enrollment fee covers all eight sessions. Parking in the campus garage costs $3 per evening. Enrollment for Mini Medical School III is limited to 400, so early registration is encouraged. For more information, call the UCSF Public Affairs office at 415/476-2557.
