UCSF Fresno presents air pollution data contributing to Valley citizens’ morbidity rates

The University of California, San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Program’s (UCSF Fresno) Department of Internal Medicine, will present a panel discussion titled, Air Pollution: Is it Killing You? The discussion will take place on Monday, November 18, at 5 p.m. in the UCSF Fresno Rowell Auditorium at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. It is sponsored by a grant from UCSF Fresno’s Roger K. Larsen, MD, Visiting Professorship Fund.

The Roger K. Larsen, MD, Visiting Professorship Fund is sponsoring the keynote speaker, Pope Moseley, MD, MS, Professor and Chairman of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico. Moseley is certified in internal, pulmonary, occupational and forensic medicine. Moseley will discuss the scientific cause and effect of air pollution.

“Dr. Moseley is a world renowned expert on the impact of the environment on health,” said Michael Peterson, MD, Endowed Chair of Medicine at UCSF Fresno. “We are fortunate to have him participate in discussions of this very important issue in the Valley.”

In addition, Roger K. Larsen, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF Fresno, will present data on the history of Valley air pollution, and David R. Pepper, MD, Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF Fresno, will address the effect it has on Valley citizens.

Larsen was UCSF Fresno’s Internal Medicine Program Director from 1961 to 1990.
