Veterans wanted for Gulf War
illness study
RESEARCHERS STUDYING GULF WAR ILLNESS AT THE SAN FRANCISCO VA MEDICAL CENTER ARE SEEKING VETERANS LIVING IN OR NEAR CALIFORNIA WHO WERE DEPLOYED TO THE PERSIAN GULF DURING DESERT STORM AND DESERT SHIELD. PARTICIPANTS DO NOT HAVE TO BE EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS TO BE PART OF THE STUDY. ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE SCREENINGS AND BRAIN IMAGING FREE OF CHARGE. Nerve stimulation therapy alleviates pain for chronic headache
A novel therapy using a miniature nerve stimulator instead of medication for the treatment of profoundly disabling headache disorders improved the experience of pain by 80-95 percent, according to a new study from UCSF and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London.
