Moving to Mission Bay
Print Version Update on Genentech Hall Services
The Mission Bay Operations and Services Committee recently issued an update on various services available at Genentech Hall, which opened to faculty and staff in January 2003.
Here are recent developments at the first teaching and research building at the Mission Bay campus:
Vending machines: One snack machine and one soda machine are located on the second (Room 228), third (Room 328), fourth (Room 428), and fifth (Room 528) floors. Proceeds from the vending machines help finance Empact! Presents programs at Mission Bay.
ATMs: The Golden 1 ATM was installed in mid-April. A second ATM will be announced soon.
Child Care at Marin Day Schools (MDS): Interim child care continues to be available to Genentech Hall and Building 19 occupants. The Marin Day Schools Spear Street center is located about 3/4 mile from Mission Bay and serves children ages three months to five years. For an application or additional information about the center please contact Vanessa Campion, MDS Spear Street director, at 777-2081. Meanwhile, the child care center, part of the first phase of development at the Mission Bay campus, will begin design in fall 2003 with construction contingent upon the completion of the parking garage (21 A/B) and the campus community center. Currently, plans call for opening the child care center in winter 2005.
Fitness Room: An interim exercise room, located in Room 114, is available to Genentech Hall occupants free of charge. Faculty, staff and students may go to the Mission Bay Campus Store to gain access to the room. The exercise room contains free weights, stretching mats, six stair climbers and four aerobic cross trainers. The exercise room's new operating hours are weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Discount Tickets: Discount tickets offered by Empact! Presents are available for purchase at the Mission Bay Campus Store in Genentech Hall. Store hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 476-8262 for more information.
Empact! Volunteer Team at Mission Bay: Debra Harris from Pharmaceutical Chemistry is the Empact! Advisory Board representative for Mission Bay. Those interested in planning fun events at Mission Bay may contact Harris at debra@picasso.ucsf.edu or Red Mangio at rmangio@casmail.ucsf.edu or call 514-1610.
