Café 24 Opens at Genentech Hall
UCSF Mission Bay's Genentech Hall is now home to a new eatery, Café 24, operated by the Mission Bay Food Co.
Menu prices range from a dollar for a simple bag of Kettle potato chips to $7.95 for the "Rotisserie Special," half a chicken marinated Tuscan-style with lemon and garlic and served with a green salad.
The sandwich selection is extensive offering what's called the "Cooper's Pressed Pesto Club," a grilled chicken breast sandwich with prosciutto, roasted onions and peppers, melted provolone, fresh pesto on a pressed baguette, among others.
In fact, the menu seemingly has something to suit everyone's taste buds - whether it's a mild-mannered "School Lunch Egg Salad" sandwich on sourdough or fiery "Voodoo Chili" served Jumbalaya style with white beans, hot andouille sausage, chicken, pale ale, tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic. (See PDF of menu.)
The café, which opened last Wednesday, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Beginning in March, Café 24 will be adding barbeque items to the menu served fresh from the patio grill including hamburgers, hot dogs and ribs. Also in March, the café will open their "Cantina" and feature a daily Happy Hour with beer and wine served from 4 to 7 p.m.
Café 24 is the newest addition to the Mission Bay Food Co., which also owns Pazzo and Dos Pinas in the San Francisco Design Centers.
For catering information, please call the Mission Bay Food Co.'s main office at 437-0874. To contact the café directly, please call 514-4114 or fax at 514-4115. Credit cards are accepted.
Café 24 succeeds White Star Café, which closed late last year, as the only eatery on the UCSF Mission Bay campus.
