J is for the J-Church

Each day, more than 2,000 UCSF students, faculty and staff rely on San Francisco's Muni streetcar system to reach the Parnassus Heights campus — particularly the N-Judah line, which stretches from Ocean Beach on the west to the CalTrain station just south of Pac Bell Park, downtown home of the San Francisco Giants.

At the moment, UCSF's new Mission Bay campus lies just beyond Muni's reach. That will change in 2005 when the J-Church line, which connects with the N-Judah at 14th and Duboce Streets, will extend its service to the campus and points south. Several years later, the N will be extended along the same route, providing a direct connection between these two major UCSF hubs.

UCSF shuttle service between the two sites will begin in early 2003, soon after the first building, Genentech Hall, opens its doors to the first wave of scientists and students.
