  • Coalition has dreams of a UC Merced med school (Fresno Bee)
    The Fresno Bee reports: "[A] coalition of 50 Valley political, business and community leaders, formed by congressmen Jim Costa, D-Fresno, and Dennis Cardoza, D-Merced, met for the first time Tuesday at the UCSF-Fresno medical school to discuss how to bring the medical school to the Merced campus."
  • Wealth Gap Growing Bigger Among American Colleges (New York Times)
    The New York Times reports: "A new report by the Council for Aid to Education, show[s] that even as Congress presses wealthy colleges and universities to spend more of their endowments, they continue on a fund-raising streak that will widen the wealth gap in higher education. ... Seven other public universities ranked among the top 20, including universities in Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan, Minnesota, Virginia and Indiana, and the University of California, San Francisco. They each raised $252 million to $325 million."

    Dr. Roy Grekin, professor of dermatology at UCSF, talks to NBC 11 about the safety of facial cosmetic treatments for the body and environment. --- Air Time: 11 PM
  • HIV and Heart Disease (WRC-TV CH 4 (NBC) Washington, DC)
    NBC in Washington DC reports that people with HIV are at higher risk for cardiovascular problems. Dr. Priscilla Hsue, assistant professor of medicine at UCSF, talks to WRC-TV about her research, including a 2004 study in the journal Circulation that showed HIV raises the risk for heart disease.
