- State financial shortfall impacts SFGH services (NBC11 News: The Bay Area At 6 -- KNTV San Francisco)
NBC 11 reports: “First at the state level, now at the city level, San Francisco is in a financial crisis that seems to be getting worse. Three months ago, the city was short $229 million for the upcoming fiscal year, now it turns out San Francisco is another $4 million in the red. And that does not include the governor's recent announcement of proposed cuts. In response, Mayor Newsom said to curb spending immediately by $18 million. ... Well, the mayor says the good news is most of those cuts will not impact anyone directly because they're coming from programs that haven't even begun such as alleyway restoration and street improvements. The biggest impact will likely be felt at San Francisco General Hospital where Newsom is ordering a reduction of elective surgeries, the closure of a popular homeless drop-in center and the shutdown of the workers' compensation clinic.” 00:07:56
